Why is rainbow mountain peru colorful?

Brown: Limestones containing magnesium.

Rainbow Mountain in Peru, also known as Vinicunca, is colorful due to the presence of different mineral layers in the mountain’s soil. Over millions of years, these layers were formed by sedimentary deposits from rivers and lakes. The vibrant colors we see today were revealed after tectonic activity pushed the mountain upward, and glacial erosion exposed the layers.
