First, we head to the charming town of Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley, where you’ll board a train to Aguas Calientes. The train ride is an unforgettable experience, offering stunning views of the Urubamba River and the lush Sacred Valley.

We’ll arrive in Aguas Calientes around 2:30 PM. Once there, you’ll check into your hotel and have the afternoon free to explore at your leisure. For those seeking adventure, consider visiting the Machu Picchu Museum, the Orchid Exhibition, or the Butterfly Sanctuary—located about a 40-minute walk from town. If relaxation is your priority, unwind at the hot springs, just a 5-minute walk from the town center.

The highlight of the trip awaits on the second day: Machu Picchu. We’ll rise early to catch the first bus to the site, a 30-minute ride that brings you to the gates of this iconic archaeological wonder. Your guide will lead you to the famous Guardhouse, where you can witness the sunrise over the ruins—a postcard-perfect moment.

Next, enjoy a 2-hour guided tour of Machu Picchu, where you’ll learn about the fascinating history of the Inca civilization and visit key landmarks such as the Temple of the Sun, the Temple of the Three Windows, the House of the Incas, the Main Plaza, Sacred Rock, and more.

After exploring the citadel, we’ll take the bus back to Aguas Calientes for lunch. At 2:55 PM, board the train back to Ollantaytambo, followed by a private van transfer to Cusco. You’ll arrive at your hotel around 7:00 PM, marking the end of an unforgettable adventure.

How long is the guided tour of Machu Picchu?

The guided tour typically lasts 2 to 3 hours, covering the main sectors of the archaeological site, such as the Temple of the Sun, the Main Plaza, the Intihuatana, and agricultural terraces.

Yes, but tickets are limited and must be reserved in advance. These hikes take about 2–3 hours round-trip and offer spectacular views of the citadel.

The best time is during the dry season (April to October), when skies are clearer. However, the site is open year-round, and some travelers enjoy the lush scenery during the rainy season (November to March).
